IGGY POP Teams Up With GREEN DAY, Former THE STOOGES Bandmates On New CD
January 11, 2003IGGY POP has collaborated with GREEN DAY on two songs for Pop's forthcoming album, due in April through Virgin Records. The titles of the songs were not known at press time. The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2001's "Beat 'Em Up" will also include appearances by two of Pop's old bandmates from THE STOOGES, Ron and Scott Asheton, who recorded several tracks with Iggy at Pop's Miami studio last year. It's their first work together since the 1973 STOOGES classic "Raw Power".
GREEN DAY and Iggy have shared a relationship of sorts in the past. Last summer, the Bay Area pop-punkers headlined the Distortion 2002 punk fest in Nottingham, England, with Iggy featured as "GREEN DAY's special guest."
Aside from working on the new album, Iggy has been keeping busy with his acting career, appearing on an episode of Fox's "Fastlane" this November as well as an episode of the Sci Fi Channel's "Tales From The Crypt" in October.
